TOKYO/BANGKOK/JAKARTA/KUALA LUMPUR — Auto sales in Thailand in 2024 slowed to their lowest level in 15 years as the industry’s slump deepened, contrasting with regional peers Malaysia and the Philippines, where market expanded.
According to data released Tuesday by the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), 572,675 new cars were sold in the country last year, down 26.2% from 2023 and the lowest figure since 2009, when about 548,000 cars were sold. In the October-December quarter, sales fell 29.1% from the year-earlier period to 134,016 units.
