TOKYO — Honda Motor is turning away from its founding principle of relying on home-grown technologies as it pursues a merger with Nissan Motor amid a slump in its automobile business.
Honda, set to start merger talks with Nissan as early as next week, hopes to stabilize earnings in the automobile business as the company becomes more reliant on motorcycle operations.
