Japan reviews nontariff barriers on autos, farm goods ahead of U.S. talks


TOKYO — Japan has started reviewing nontariff trade barriers opposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, including regulations on automobile and agricultural imports, as Tokyo hopes to improve its hand heading into tariff negotiations with Washington.

“I would like to conduct the most detailed analysis possible,” Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba said about negotiations with the U.S. at a parliamentary lower house budget meeting on Monday.
