Number of casualties in Iranian port blast rises (VIDEO) (UPDATE)

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 27. The number of
people injured in the explosion at Iran’s Shahid Rajaei port has
reached 1,139, Trend reports.

Fatima Mohajerani, the press secretary of the Iranian
government, confirmed the update, stating:

“The situation in Shahid Rajaee Port is under control. 1,139
people are being treated in medical facilities. Some of them have
been transferred to Shiraz and Lorestan”, she wrote on the social
network X.

The death toll from the explosion at the Shahid Rajaee seaport
in the southern Iranian city of Bandar Abbas continues to climb,
Trend reports.

According to the latest information, 18 people have been
confirmed dead, while more than 800 others have sustained injuries
of varying severity.

The blast was so powerful that it caused extensive damage to
port facilities and vehicles in the surrounding area. In response
to the growing number of casualties, authorities have organized an
emergency blood donation drive in the city.

The fire caused by the explosion at the Shahid Rajaei port in
the Hormozgan province in southern Iran has flared up with renewed
vigor, with strong winds causing the fire to spread faster, Iranian

“The main task right now is to rescue those injured and
completely extinguish the fire. At this moment, about 750 people
sustained injuries and eight have died. The rescue and law
enforcement agencies are on site and we hope that the situation
will be under complete control in a matter of hours,” the official
said.

A major explosion rocked Iran’s Shahid Rajaei port in the
Persian Gulf on Saturday morning. The official cause of the blast
has not yet been named. State of emergency declared in Iran.
