Japan automakers send more cars to U.S. from Mexico ahead of tariffs


TOKYO — Japanese automakers have been exporting more Mexican-built vehicles to the U.S. in recent months, apparently aiming to bulk up inventories ahead of the Trump administration’s latest tariffs.

The companies delivered 217,000 vehicles to the U.S. from Mexico between December and February, based on data from industry intelligence firm MarkLines — up 17% from a year earlier.
