SEOUL — A South Korean court ruled Monday to restore Prime Minister Han Duck-soo to office, Yonhap news agency reported, a move that comes as the nation awaits a ruling in the impeachment trial of President Yoon Suk Yeol.
Han assumed the role of acting president in mid-December after lawmakers voted to impeach Yoon. Han was himself impeached later that month when National Assembly members accused him of delaying the ruling on the president by refusing to appoint judges to the Constitutional Court. He had also deepened political gridlock by using the top office’s veto power to nix opposition-led legislation.
