WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump hosted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an official working visit on Thursday, a meeting that will likely signal the American leader’s second-term approach to South Asia’s dominant actor.
“They’re going to be purchasing a lot of our oil and gas,” Trump said in the Oval Office at the start of the meeting. “We have more oil and gas than any other country in the world, by far, and they need it, and we have it.”
