Shiseido plots comeback in China through midsize cities: CEO


TOKYO — Amid prolonged struggles in major market China, Japanese cosmetics maker Shiseido is undergoing structural reforms focused on narrowing down brands and reducing costs.

As competition with South Korean companies and low-cost alternatives heats up, Shiseido can compete by focusing on its products’ value beyond just price, said President Kentaro Fujiwara, who also became CEO in January, in an interview with Nikkei.
