WASHINGTON — A small passenger plane crashed in Washington on Wednesday after a collision with a military helicopter over the Potomac River, triggering a massive search and rescue operation in frigid waters.
The Federal Aviation Administration said that a PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ-700 regional jet collided in midair with a Sikorsky H-60 Black Hawk helicopter. “PSA was operating as Flight 5342 for American Airlines,” it said.
