SEOUL — South Korean anti-corruption investigators and police arrived at the residence of impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol on Friday morning to serve a warrant for his arrest over alleged insurrection, but appear to be locked in a stalemate with the presidential security detail.
If the investigators manage to take Yoon into custody, it would mark the first time a sitting South Korean president has been arrested. Yoon and his legal team have called the investigation illegitimate and refused to cooperate. Hundreds of Yoon’s supporters, some waving South Korean and U.S. flags, gathered outside his residence in Seoul to protest.
