TOKYO — Pita Limjaroenrat, a former leader of Thailand’s largest opposition party, said he wishes to one day return as a prime ministerial candidate to lead the Southeast Asian country after he was banned from political activity for 10 years.
“I’m waiting for my return,” Pita told reporters in Tokyo on Tuesday on the sidelines of a lecture he delivered at the University of Tokyo. “If the party supports and if the people want, I will return as a prime minister candidate,” he said, adding that it is “not a personal choice, it’s an institutional choice.”
