Sony’s Concord video game caught in crossfire over diversity


TOKYO — The quick demise this summer of a Sony Group online first-person shooter game has brought pushback against diversity into sharp focus.

Concord was in development for around eight years before Firewalk Studios, an American unit of the Japanese entertainment and electronics conglomerate, finally released it on Aug. 24. But the title drew a maximum of just 697 concurrent players on its first day on the Steam personal computer gaming platform.
