Nearly 60% of Chinese in poll say Japan ties ‘not important’

TOKYO — Chinese view their country’s relationship with Japan as far less important than they used to, a new survey suggests.

Almost 60% of Chinese respondents said Japan-China ties are either “not important” or “relatively not important,” according to the latest joint public opinion poll by Genron NPO, a Japanese think tank, and China International Communications Group, a publishing group.
