BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 14. Renowned
political analyst and journalist, founder and CEO of the Don Gracia
Center for Diplomacy, Rachel Avraham, has condemned the US congress
members for their actions in an article titled “COP29 Should Not Be
Politicized” published on the website of the New York-based Foreign
Policy Association, Trend reports via Azerbaijan’s State Committee on
Diaspora Affairs.
In her article, Avraham criticized Congressman Frank Pallone,
founder and co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues
in the U.S. Congress, along with 60 other members of Congress, led
by Senator Ed Markey, for urging U.S. Secretary of State Antony
Blinken to use the COP29 conference as a platform to criticize
Azerbaijan.
The article points out that, in doing so, the congressmen and
senators are effectively urging the US Secretary of State to
condemn one of America’s most reliable allies in the South
Caucasus. It highlights that Azerbaijan is committed to building a
sustainable future for the greater good. The pressure being exerted
on Azerbaijan not only contradicts US interests in the region but
also undermines the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and
the US on key issues such as climate change. By taking these
actions, US lawmakers are attempting to politicize an important
conference where the global community should be focused on finding
solutions to the climate crisis.
