BANGKOK — Thailand on Wednesday formally began the yearslong process to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, part of its bid to transform into a high-income country by 2037 by adopting standards and practices championed by the club of advanced economies.
Thailand’s OECD accession process starts a week after it became a partner of the BRICS bloc, which began as Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
